Users may experience issues with verifying KENTUCKY commercial driver’s licenses (CDLs) in the Clearinghouse at this time. The Clearinghouse Team is aware of the issue and is working on resolving it. In the meantime, users may be able to successfully verify a CDL by entering the driver name in ALL CAPITAL LETTERS.

If this prevents an employer from conducting required pre-employment queries for information on KENTUCKY CDL- and CLP-holders only, the employer may hire a driver using solely the procedures set forth in 49 CFR 391.23(e), as outlined in the frequently asked questions.

QUERY PLANS NOW AVAILABLE FOR PURCHASE

Be Prepared for January 6, 2020

Employers of CDL drivers can now purchase a query plan. Purchasing a query plan enables employers, and their designated consortia/third-party administrators (C/TPAs), to conduct queries for all current and potential new employees, as required per § 382.701. Query plans may be purchased only on the FMCSA Clearinghouse website by registered employers. Download the instructional job aid and visit https://clearinghouse.fmcsa.dot.gov/query/plan to learn more about query plans.

A separate query plan must be purchased for each individual company. Note: C/TPAs may not purchase plans on behalf of an employer.
